A source close to the South African National Halal
Association (SANHA) and the Muslim Judicial Council
(MJC) tells me that the former earns R2,5-million
each year, with the latter grossing just over R4-million.
This cost is passed on to the consumer on behalf
of an institution that claims to represent just 1,5% of the population.
